Turboloid

Format: 12" Vinyl
Catalog Number: SJ #004

"Fun fact re: Turboloid: the pressing plant misunderstood, printed 3 test pressings of this EP as a 7"!
I think I may have one laying around, am not sure though."
Best regards,
Tom
Notes:
PRESS RELEASE TRBNGR "TURBOLOID" 12"
Well-well well-well well.
So it is finally here.
TRBNGRS's Debut 12"
5 songs about sex and revenge, subjects that are not exactly the
usual part of your everyday life, but which you probably need to be reminded of.
Do you remember how it actually felt when your cock slided into the ass of the guy
you met at the Chris Erichsen concert at Renegat, that time you feverishly tried to
follow ridiculous english trends, "lifestyle packages" you did not dare not to follow?
Do you remember the taste of 12 hour old cunt juice after you woke up with 37 year old
dialect rabbling closet lesbian psychology studying divorced mother of two? Was it
after the X-Mal Deutschland concert at Ratz, or did just get lost and ended up at Club7?
Or do you remember that time a couple of years later at Sardines when you tried to talk
your way into the pants of a 17 year old girl by bragging with your "business contacts",
that old worn out rock credibility of yours, and not-to-forget your narrow knowledge of music,
just to get harshly rejected?
Not?
Could it be black out, or is it simply that you do not want to remember?
Do you feel like choking when you think back?
You do not not have to give this record a good review.
You don't actually have to mention it at all.
Deeply
Steen Ståle Glad

Hot Cars and Spent Contraceptives
Record Label: Big Ball Records (Norway)
Release Date: 1992
Format: Compact Disc
Catalog Number: BBR-004
Press Details: 1000 copies.
Notes: The debut full length on Big Ball Records (David / Punk Babe of The Anal Babes / Astroburger's label.), Norway 1992. A version (with some extra tracks)
of this was released early 1993 by Repulsion Records, titled Helta Skelta with a painted portrait of Sirhan Sirhan on the cover (but several ignorants have mistaken it for Manson!)
and a 20+ minute audio-play about a young man being raped by a policeman called 'A Career In Indie Rock'. 1500 copies were made of this one, but the stupid
kraut junkie / paisley shirt owner (Marc Richter) didn't pay us.
- The Unofficial Turbonegro Central 08/02/00

More bad vibrations from El Turbonegro, their first full-legth
album. May not be suitable for untermensch, so you might as well forget
about it Buster.

Catalog Number: bc 1721-green
Press Details: 52 green & black splatter
Notes: Features the very disturbing 'A Career In Indie Rock'.
"The whole of this was in it's entirety
lifted from one of Happy Tom's numerous porn videos. Tom has always been a
real conneiseur of porn; in fact he even gets Christmas cards from different
mail-order companies. I can't recall the title, but the piano was played by a
well-known radio-reporter from the state broadcasting company and singer of
lesser-known "Country Faggots". The name says it all."

Hot Cars and Spent Contraceptives
Record Label: Bitzcore Records (Germany) / Get Hip Records (USA)
Release Date: 2000
Format: 12" Vinyl
Catalog Number: bc 1721-yellow
Press Details: 58 golden & black splattered wax. Re-press with alternate cover design by Dimitri 'from Oslo' Kayiambakis.
Bitzcore also sells records in the US through Get Hip Records and in doing so their editions were almost always different in one way or another, mainly in colored wax.
This strictly 'limited American only pressing' for GHR was on golden and black marbled wax!
Notes: "Turbonegro's first studio album, Hot Cars and Spent Contraceptives, easily the band's noisiest and most metallic, also featured the band's first vocalist, Harry Neger. In many ways, considering the time period (1991-1992), Hot Cars sounded
not unlike something recorded and released via Amphetamine Reptile Records, with its insistence upon dirty, distorted guitar riffs; feedback; and mid-paced, stripped-down, raw rock pacing and arrangements. What's amazing about
Turbonegro is that with each successive album, the band sounds remarkably different, even while maintaining enough signatures to retain a specific Turbonegro sound. Again, this is a dense, noisy album, grittier and blockier than
Ass Cobra, even if not quite as incisive and furious. The following album, Never Is Forever, began the band's exploration of more dynamic sonic themes, using acoustic instruments, for instance, or greater melodic arrangements.
That, of course, could have been the result of vocalist Hans Erik Dyvik Husby, who remained Turbonegro's frontman until his mental collapse during the Apocalypse Dudes tour, the band's swan song."

Steirkampf (Turbonegro)
(He's A) Grunge Whore
10" EP OUT NOW
Out of print since the month it was released in 1993. This is the only record of this line-up of Turbonegro with this short-lived name change.Ê
Due to a new singer decisions were made to rename to STIERKAMPF ( the German word for 'bull-fight' ) - a change that apparently caused slight trouble
for the band being suspected of 'crypto-nazism'. Offerings for gigs were refused, nevertheless they played a few shows as support for Poison Idea in
Oslo ( Hanky's stage debut in april '93 too ! ), on the 1st of May in Copenhagen, Denmark & as support for The Ramones in August '93 at the Oslo Rock
festival. It's title, "Grunge Whore" is meant as some kind of reckoning with Kurt Cobain of Nirvana including precise predictions on his rockstar
suicide which actually was to follow one year later! In fact Turbonegro had once confronted the Nirvana singer at the Oslo Kalvøya Festival
in 1992 that was headlined by his band. Turbonegro were performing at the aftershow party and it is reported that Kurt escaped the party desperately
holding his hands clamped to his ears after giving Turbonegro a listen for a couple of songs.
In an interview for a greek fanzine Turbonegro advised the readers not to participate in the then current Seattle grunge boom: "Remember that out
of e-v-e-r-y Nirvana or Alice In Chains record sold, one dollar of gold goes to the CIA's weapon's operations!" Stierkampf played hard and angry and
were flinging leprosy-messages to the East and West : Sample lyric:Ê 'Big wheels keep on turning / Napalm keeps on burning / Paying for the CIA guns /
With his distorted guitars and his pounding drums.' Member pseudonyms for this recording are Herr Tugen, Bongo, Bingo, L. Ron Bud and Brune.
The Black Flag cover, "Six Pack" features Eugene Chadbourne on twin banjo and former singer Harald Fossberg on vocals. Currently poised to take
over the airwaves of the free and not-so-free world this is Turbonegro way back when.

Cover by
Dimitri from Oslo.
Originally released on CD by Dog
Job Records, Oslo (Apclps 2001), 1994.
Notes: For the first time ever the classic NIF is released on vinyl!
This is quite a departure from the omni-present destructive rush
of "Hot Cars", but rather a bitter and desperate ride through the
alienated landscapes of suburban darkness!!
"A tribute to Blue Oyster Cult" - as claimed by themselves!!
The Bitzcore re-issue comes with new sleeve artwork designed by
Dimitri 'from Oslo' Kayiambakis showing German TV detective superintendant
'Derrick' Horst Tappert holding a gun to his head !!
Furthermore the LP insert / CD traycard depicts a photo montage
of Pål imitating H.M. Schleyer (president of the German employers
association) as abducted by the R.A.F. terrorists in 1977.
According to Happy Tom this "was a special greeting from the other
members of the band, regarding Pål's newly found role as owner and
operator of Pamparius Pizza".

Never Is Forever
Record Label: Bitzcore Records (Germany)
Release Date: 1999
Format: Compact Disc
Catalog Number: bitzcore bc 1714-2 (CD)
Press Details: CD reissue edition contains three hidden tracks! (see details below)
Notes: "Never Is Forever" is one of the true lost classics. Originally released by the band and a friend in Oslo
in early 1994 in 1.000 copies on CD only, at a time when nobody would even touch it due to the fact that it was so wrong trend wise. When the rest of
the punk oriented world tried hard to be lo-fi and "real", Turbonegro as usual went the opposite way, creating a miniature suburban deathpunk opera.
Seldom have pop culture, darkness and desperation blended so well, this is a truly brilliant record from the band we have all come to fear and love.
The re-release comes with new Derrick-style artwork and remastered sound.

*The music that accompanied this track was ultimately dropped out on the final mix making it a great acapella by bassist Bengt 'Bingo' Calmeyer.
The song is a rip off version of the original by Ebba Gron (Swedish punk band from early 80's).
**Evel Knievel reveals his tender side with a dramatic reading of his poem "Why?" Written in response to his most commonly-asked question, Evel (backed by piano
and strings) explains, "Just like you, I've gotta be me." From the 'Evel Knievel' LP (Amherst, 1974). - stevemandich.com
***'Ballad Of Evel Knievel' is a mellow, rather pedestrian country ditty, written by Ron Kramer and performed by John Culliton Mahoney.
From the 'Evel Knievel' LP (Amherst, 1974). - stevemandich.com
****The voice at the end of 'I Will Never Die' that says in part, "I have never, ever drank much alcoholics", is again Evel Knievel. From the 'Evel Knievel' LP (Amherst, 1974). - stevemandich.com

Apocalypse Dudes
Record Label: Bitzcore Records (Germany)
Release Date: 02/20/98
Format: 12" Vinyl
Catalog Number: bc1720
Press Details: 77 copies on transparent red vinyl.
LP editions: Gatefold sleeve, 4 color + silverjacket, 180g extra thick vinyl, 4c labeling, a poster and everything
shrinkwrapped.
Notes: Turbonegro are a six piece denim rock outfit from the darkness on the edge of Oslo, Norway.
These suburbs have the highest teen suicide & fatality rates in the world and Turbonegro are,
according to the punkorientated publication Maximum Rock'n'Roll: "a full blown rock'n'roll
circus like you've never seen before!". Why denim? "We feel that denim out-rocks leather at all levels.
Leather is for empty, little people. Denim is for us big guys! And the kids LOVE it!" Happy Tom, bass.
On April 6, 1998 Turbonegros masterpiece "Apocalypse Dudes" hit the shelves. "Apocalypse Dudes" forever
changed the way people think a classic rock'n'roll album should sound like: while most longplayers
contain 2 good songs and fillers "Apocalypse Dudes" is ALL HITS, no fillers, just killers. This my friends
is a virtually perfect record! Excellent production - a huge, FAT sound; lots of power and excellent songs
that you can't get out of your head. Not one let down through 47 minutes of music!!
This is not an underground tip!! "Apocalypse Dudes" appeals to the masses. From punk to metal to mainstream,
"Apocalypse Dudes" has something for everyone.
Will Turbonegro spearhead a new resurgence of 70's influenced
glam'n'roll into the next century and beyond!?! Get ready for impact!

Love It To Deathpunk: Best Of...
Record Label: Tilt Records (Australia)
Release Date: July, 2001
Format: Compact Disc
Catalog Number: TTCD 004
Press Details: 2000 copies.
Notes: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF TURBONEGRO !!
"Love It To Deathpunk" is a really well-done "best-of" compilation that was released in Australia and
features 17 songs selected from Turbonegro's four studio albums and the "Darkness Forever" live record,
a journey through the band's back-catalogue so to speak.
Considering that it contains song material that was recorded between 1991 and 1998 this compilation
sounds amazingly even, and of course all the hits are present here. The booklet is spiced with some full
color photos such as the rad shot of Chris Summers lighting his cigarette at Hanky's sparkling ass-rocket.

Scandinavian Leather
Record Label: Epitaph Records (USA)
Release Date: 05/06/03
Format: Compact Disc
Catalog Number: 82031
Press Details:
Notes: 'Scandinavian Leather' is the sixth record by Turbonegro, the band that
sparked the Scandinavian Rock Explosion. Their sound captures a powerful but elusive quality
that can best be described as 'darkness' and the term 'death-punk' has been coined
to describe it. Despite their disbanding under infamous circumstances in 1998,
Turbonegro have continued to inspire many copy cat bands and have endured as a major
force in the global underground. 'Scandinavian Leather' marks their triumphant return
and is a testament to their lasting influence. These thirteen tracks leave you wanting more.
No record collection will be complete without this classic.

Notes: "Most rock'n'roll bands start as a riot but end up as a parody. We
started up as a parody but ended up as a revolution" - Happy-Tom, 2005.
It's been a long time coming since Turbonegro started shaking up the punk scene in Oslo in the late 80's. With the
release of legendary punk albums like Ass Cobra, Apocalypse Dudes and the more recent Scandinavian Leather, Turbonegro
have firmly cemented themselves as legends...and no one's had to die, not yet anyway.
Now its 2005, and Turbonegro must be called the worlds biggest underground rock band. Get ready for the best rock
album you'll ever fall in love with: the dark, beautiful, catchy and dangerous punk rock epic that is Party Animals.
While Scandinavian Leather was recorded at their own studio in Oslo, Turbonegro decided to bring in Steve McDonald
as co-producer for Party Animals. McDonald played bass and sang in the California band Redd Kross from the age of 11,
a band transformed from being an archetypical L.A.-punk band to taking in influences from the glam and stadium rock of
the seventies, not unlike what Turbonegro has done through their career. In recent years McDonald has worked with
artists such as Beck and The White Stripes.
Containing anthems like All My Friends Are Dead, Blow Me (Like the Wind) and City of Satan, Party Animals is another
example of classic Turbonegro!

Party Animals
Record Label: Abacus Recordings (USA)
Release Date: 08/23/2005
Format: Compact Disc
Catalog Number: ABACD0016
Press Details:
Notes: "Where their last effort, "Scandinavian Leather," picked up right where
the band left off (pre-break up), "Party Animals" is a whole new beast altogether. Gone are the raunchy punk rock
tunes of old. This is pure hard rock with the occasional ballad, wanking solos left and right, and super catchy
choruses."
