Schpaaa
Production Company: BulBul Film AS (Norway)
Release Date: October 16, 1998
Directed by: Erik Poppe
Format: DVD
Disc Encoding: Region 2 only with PAL equipment
Catalog Number:
Subtitles: English
Running Time: 77 minutes
Aspect ratio: 1.85:1, Anamorphic Widescreen (16:9)
Notes: Also known as 'Bunch of Five' elsewhere in the world, namely Australia.
Description: A critical and box-office smash hit, Schpaaa is the
film that sent shockwaves through the Norwegian media at its release. An angry document about life growing up in the city center.
Schpaaa is packed with sharp street humor, intense action, and propelled by brilliant camera work. Schpaaa examines
the fragmentary story of five young boys in contemporary Oslo. An account of one crucial week in the lives of Jonas (13), and his
former Yugoslavian friend Emir (15). Without much of a future they take control of their own lives and push the limits within their
relationship to each other and to the world. In a critical moment Jonas lets his best friend down. Schpaaa is a film about
young gangsters and reflects a true picture of contemporary Oslo. A story about betrayal, loss of innocence, and the search for
identity in an environment not familiar to most of us.
Schpaaa's subject matter made a huge impact in Norway, not least when the Norwegian Ministry of Children and Family Affairs
called for an extra screening so they could see what they were up against.
The Soundtrack (Virgin) includes Turbonegro, Warlocks and
Kåre & The Cavemen.

Turboneger: The ResErection
Released By: Bitzcore Records (Germany)
Release Date: 2003
Produced By: Nordisk Film/Stig Anderson
Co-Produced By: Trond Sættem
Directed by: Trond Sættem
Format: DVD
Catalog Number: SP033
Audio: English/Norwegian
Subtitles: Yes
Running Time:
Special Features: Interactive menu, scene select
Press Details: This bonus documentary DVD was included with the Ltd. Deluxe Edition Leather digi-pak CD out on Bitzcore Records. 10,000 copies worldwide.
Notes: The ResErection process started, I think, December 2001 a dark, dark night
at last train - Oslo's "home of rock". It ended on NRK1's "Fakta på Lørdag"
in April 2003, Norwegian televisions famous docu-slot, prime time Saturday
night and had about 410 000 viewers. (Norway has, dear reader, a little more
than 4 million inhobbittants to inform you. That makes it about 10% of the
population sat in front of their boxes watching the docu that night. Not
bad. I don't think anything compareable to this documentary had been shown
on this slot before when it comes to dirty language, the look and music, not
to mention the close up view of Hanks ass as he inserts the rocket. I want to
salute Tore Tomter who had the final say at NRK, for his decision buying it
and putting it on.
We were hanging out at Last Train, when Rune and Tom somewhat surprisingly
told me they were to reunite for the 2002 Quart festival. I think I gave
them a big hug in awe. I immediately shouted "I'm shooting the film!".
Attending their (second to last Oslo) show at the club Mars spring 1998,
left me impressed musicwise, at the same time disgusted. I remember Hank
sticking his beer bottle up his arse and drank some, before people from the
crowd took a sip at it. Nice! I stood on the gallery thinking "where's your
fukken camera, idiot?!". I'd been shooting photos at a lot of gigs for years,
but when it really happened I clearly missed out. Not anymore!
Couple of days later, when the news hit the papers, Tom had several calls
from other people wanting to document the reunion. One of them was Stig
Andersen from Nordisk Film, who later ended up as producer for the
documentary. Tom gave them all a "NO!". I wasn't thinking too much about it
at first, but this made the project escalate into something bigger and more
serious. I teamed up with Stig Andersen who was in it from the moment he
picked up the phone. He helped out with better camera gear, and I started
filming every rehearsal possible. Tom and I then flew the long way up to
Lofoten islands and stayed at Hanks place. This was my first meet with Hank
ever, and Tom's first meet since the "final show" December 18th, 1998.
Lofoten is one of the most spectacular places I've seen, and we were hanging
out, partying, filming and partying some more - with local fishermen for a
week (see image of Tom arm wrestling with very drunk fisherman in working
gear at 05:43am). Getting Hank on tape as he did his radio show, at work in
the fishing museum (where Tom also pops up talking a masterpiece on "art"
and being fed codliver oil by Hank) and opening up telling his story, I knew
I had a documentary of importance.
This was May 2002, and I continued filming through the whole summer ending
with the Bizarre festival in August, and even a while longer as I did
interviews with all of them while we were at the editing process. I ended up
having over 80 hours of material to log, and we stayed 7 fucking weeks
editing the piece.
This period of time was as crucial for me as it was for the band. I got to
know a bunch of great individuals pretty well. I'd like to use space to
thank the following for making this possible: All Turbonegroes, Stig
Andersen (mentor, producer, videographer at Quart festival), Leon Erikson
(videographer at Quart and Hultsfred festivals), Christian Finnskog
(Videographer Quart and Hultsfred festivals), Siw Lotherington (Videographer
Quart), Eirik Aagaard (Videographer Quart), Alexander Kayambakis (Stills at
Quart), Cat. Bengtson, Johan Thiseus and Musikbyraan STV crew (Video
exchange Hultsfred festival).
The ResErection will be released on DVD with extra's, so keep your eyes and
ears open.
Tha!
Trond Saettem
(Director, Videographer and co-producer)

Notes: Team Antonsen was a Norwegian sketch comedy television program which
was shown on TV in spring 2004 on the Norwegian state channel NRK. The show consisted of four well-known
comedians Atle Antonsen, Harald Eia, Bård Tufte Johansen and Kristopher Schau performing various sketches.
The show typically made fun of spoken nynorsk and sami, as well as regional dialects from all over Norway most
commonly from Northern Norway and the cities of Bergen and Trondheim. Celebrities often appeared on the
show among others famous writer Anne Holt and accomplished singer Bertine Zetlitz.
The show also spawned a stage comedy show called Team Antonsen Live: One Night Only, which was performed in Oslo
Spektrum in May 2004. The comedians originally only planned one showing, but when tickets sold out they decided on
performing one more, called Team Antonsen Live: One More Night Only.
The series won several Norwegian comedy awards, most notably the 2004 Gullruten for best humor show, Komiprisen
for best show, as well as Komiprisen viewer's award for their sketch Hjemme hos Haakon Børde.
Turboneger appeared at the show's final with a live performance of the old smash hit "Færra Te Mexico" by Norwegian
chanteuse Lynni Treekrem. As the original version is reported to be quite horrible "Turboneger had to take esthetic
responsibility for the Norwegian people" (Happy Tom). Knut and Tom are also briefly featured in the bonus backstage footage.
