   Equipment Setups

Knut 'Euroboy' Schreiner
18/12/1974

In his early years, Knut distinguished himself as a gymnastics athlete, his troupe even becoming junior Norwegian champions in one discipline. However, when he got his first guitar for Christmas at 12, priorities changed. Knut's first bands were influenced by the Stooges, the Velvet Underground and garage rock. Knut spent some years at the University of Oslo, taking exams in English and the History of Ideas, before devoting all his time to music. Knut played in a series of bands before and during the formation of EuroBoys, most notably with Turbonegro, whose Apocalypse Dudes album (1998) he largely produced. Nowadays, EuroBoys is his sole band project, although his guitar playing frequently appears on other artists' recordings. Knut's favourite musicians include Todd Rundgren, James Williamson (stooges). Knut mainly uses a Fender Jazzmaster and a Gibson Les Paul Standard, a Fender Twin Rev and an Orange Matamp, more on this below.

On a trivial note: Knut shares his birthday with Keith Richards and Stephen Spielberg.

Euroboy uses almost exclusively Gibson Les Paul Customs and Standards. There are numerous photos of him playing a Custom with what appears to be modified tone and volume control positions. They look reset toward the neck about a good inch. See photo.

Rune 'Rebellion' Gronn
??/??/19??

While not as widley reconized as some of the turbo's, it goes without saying that Rune is a true master craftsman in the art of taming thee almighty sonic rhythm guitar. The display of wrist-breaking down stroke consistency would make even Malcolm Young give a nod n' wink to this silent but, deadly adversary.

All hail the Rebellion!!!

As far as equipment goes I used a totally great Peavey Roadmaster 12o W guitaramp w/Peavey 4x12" speakers until it went up in flames sometime back in '97. (Euroboy actually used this amp for some of the Vikings-recordings.) I then changed to a Marshall 100W Slash signature! No effects. Main guitars were two Gibson SG Standards, one 1971 and one 1981 Reissue. Euroboy's setup for Turbonegro was a Marshall JCM 900w/4 or 8x12" speakers, using one of his Gibson Les Paul's or Paulie's old SG junior.

Best wishes,
Rune

Thomas 'Happy-Tom' Seltzer
Hamar, Norway
07/27/1969

The last years I played both live and studio on a USA Fender 1978 p-bass which was given to me as a gift from the St.Pauli Soccer Club supporters in Hamburg, complete with old SSD and Misfits stickers.

I had two different Ampeg heads, one SVT-something, tubes, heavy piece of shit that collapsed all the time, I traded it in for a cheaper, newer transistor variety, it never failed. I had a new 2x18" (I think) Marshall cab, however our booking agency rented a 8x10 standard Ampeg.

Best regards,
Thomas

Christer 'Prince Of Drummers' Engen
Oslo, Norway
11/07/1974

I used a lot of different kits - the only constant part of my set-up was a great Ludwig snare, 14", that we stole from a club. When I joined Turbo I bought a Remo kit cheap from a friend, but I only used it during the first half of '97 (we use it with Euroboys now).

In USA the summer of '97 we rented a kit, a Ludwig I think, with a 24" kick and 14"/18" toms. I also used a rented one during our spring tour of Europe in '98, but I can't remember what kind it was. "Dudes" was recorded on a Ludwig reissue (22"-13"-16"), the same one I used from the summer of '98 up until our last show. Cymbals: Zildjan/Paiste/Sabian, with a 14" hi hat, a 22" ride and two crashes, 18" and 20". Sticks: Vic Firth "American Classic Rock" - the longest ones I've found.

Best regards,
Chris
