   (8/10)

This is the real test for the so-called rock 'n' roll revival. If Turbonegro get the spot on CD-UK that they deserve then we'll know that it wasn't just a fashion thing. With their previous albums, 'Ass Cobra', 'Apocalypse Dudes' and 'Never Is Forever', they created a new genre that was one part the Sex pistols' 'Friggin' In The Riggin', one part LA sleaze, one part death metal, and several parts of their own blood, sweat and spunk, and they called it deathpunk.

Well, now the're back like a long-term con stepping out into the sunshine after a long stretch, and this time the they've got tunes as well; huge, pungently cheesy tunes that make like a mutilated hybrid of Europe, Alice Cooper and Black Flag. Some of their sicker fans might regret that there's nothing quite so extraordinarily evil as previous tracks like 'Midnight NAMBLA' here, but even so, they haven't exactly sold out. 'Turbonegro Must Be Destroyed' puts the case for the prosecution - these are, quite possibly, vile, terrible people - but you can't help feeling that extreme epics like 'Drenched In Blood', 'Train Of Flesh' and 'Fuck The World' put an extremely eloquent case for the defence.
