History...
When I started this site in August 2000 I didn't really know who or what the Turbojugend was.
I did know, however, that this monster introduced to me back in '96 was Turbonegro had me obsessed. At any rate,
it didn't take long to figure out that this was the Turbonegro fan club and that I needed to
create something custom for the Turbojugend USA web site. Shortly after debuting this new TJUSA logo online
I received two e-mails, one from Happy Tom and another from El Presidente, Turbojugend St. Pauli.
Tom expressed how much he liked the design while El Presidente, on the other hand, questioned
my motives for incorporating the 'iron cross' into the motif. Well being the negro obsessed guy that I am, I thought the answer was pretty clear.
But as I soon found out not everybody thinks along the same lines as I do and thinks of 'Bad Mongo' when they see an 'iron cross'.
And besides the standard 'badge and cap' was set and there were no other jugend chapters breaking with 'tradition' so why was I?
Well, for whatever reason I chose not to convert to the 'b & c' but instead ran with my own design. A decision that even today is a great source of controversy.
But that's another story...
Future...
With the exception of a handful of chapters not much activity was seen by Turbojugend during the years following the band's breakup in 1998. That was all to change when the band made a comeback in 2002
with what is known as the 'Res-Erection' tour. Now, six years later and thousands of chapters around the globe the idea of the 'personalized / localized' crest is fast becoming
a more common occurrence. Ironically this seems to go with the band's new image. An image of six individuals each with their own persona that together
make up the rock-n-roll machine: Turbonegro!
