:: ARCTIC CHALLENGE!
It is called The Arctic Challenge with good reason. The weather gods, or perhaps human pollution,
have sent warm winds and rain over northern Norway once again, forcing The Arctic Challenge to make
last minute changes. Thanks to overwhelming local enthusiasm the halfpipe and quarterpipe will maintain
optimal standards, but the slopestyle is unfortunately cancelled.
The long trail of snowboarders and media heading for The Arctic Challenge will stay on the same
path as planned. The locations and travel plans are the same. The Arctic Challenge 2004 opens in
Tromso with the Gluecifer concert on March 27. The park will open as planned on March 28, with a
halfpipe battle planned for March 29. The show goes on with quarterpipe planned for March 31;
reserving April 1 as a weather back-up day. Turbonegro rocks the city of Tromso the night of March 31
before the adventure sails on to Lofoten April 1 - a journeying along the north-Norwegian coast to
Stamsund, where the snowboard community will celebrate the conclusion of another season with surfing,
fishing, skating, sea kayaking, freeriding and partying.

It's been almost a month since our last update, I hope
everyone has been well.
• Spring is almost here and I'm ready to come out of
my cave and terrorize the city with loud music and
Turbojugend propaganda! I have been further working
on my ideas for the "turbo-guerilla-art". I'm pretty
psyched about it and I'm sure you will be too.
• The scheduled rock show for May has been postponed
until the end of August due to busy schedules...it's
now going to be "THE BACK TO DUNGAREE HIGH BASH".
Yeehaw.
• So we've tried to have a meeting a couple times and
people have failed to show any interest in the idea.
So rather than have some sort of pittiful gathering at
my apartment where no one shows up I end up getting
drunk alone and pissing everywhere, I figure I'll try
something different...
• THURSDAY MARCH 25TH: meet up at Sully's in Allston
for beer and pool and hanging out.
I figure Allston is a fairly central location for us
all to get to and having some sort of activity to
occupy us will make for a fun laid back evening.
So just send over an e-mail and let me know weather
you're gonna be there or not and what time is good for
you.
I'll send out another reminder about it in a few days
with a specific time to meet up.

Alright - time to move asses to St. Pauli again. Please reserve your costly time for Friday, the 21st and Saturday, the 22nd of may.
Unexpectedly Thursday, 20th is a national holiday, too!
We're in the beginning of planning things and therefore can't
announce too many details now but here's a rough schedule:
Thursday: welcome events of the global Jugend in St. Pauli at several
bars and clubs.
Friday: Turbojugend cover bands, Karaoke competition & more plus
Peter Pan Speedrock plus DJ's at venue "Grünspan". 700 tickets available.
Saturday: 4 internationally known bands at venue "Gosse Freiheit".
The Hives and Hellacopters unfortunately had to cancel due to their
time schedule, but Therapy? and a scandinavian act with three letters
confirmed. Be sure we'll come up with a nice line-up. Open-end DJ party to follow.
1500 tickets available.
Tickets: will only be sold to Presidents (they collect tickets wants
for their Jugend and friends) at first. We got so much response
already that both events hopefully will be sold out before the dates.
Don't panic: we haven't started selling and your presidents will be
the first to be contacted.
For the foreign Jugend we plan to offer travel packages with a travel agency.
And yes, the boys from Oslo will be hanging out, too!

I got an e-mail with info on the new World Forum that wants to unite the
jugend webpages/forums. I think that is the goal...
So register if interested! You can do this individually or as a chapter. It also seems
that if you have a forum already, you can add a link to it from this one? I'm not sure. Or
maybe a new forum can be created? They say that they want all nationalities to join.
I think it would be great if there were, for example, a section for the USA containing US forums
and a US flag, the British flag, and so on. They need to clean up the main page and maybe simplify it....

Hank von Helvete says they are most happy about the award
for best live band, since it includes their fans.
He continued saying that Turbonegro are going to spend much
time in the studio and that a new CD is on its way. He
says Turbonegro hasn't said all there is to say yet! But
doesn't say when we can expect the CD to hit the stores.

More very sad news...
Rocco Clein died tragically on Sunday, 1st of February due to a cerebral haemorrhage.
Rocco was not only a TJ St. Pauli member from the beginning (he received the very first TJ jacket ever given out) - he was also very
closely connected to the band (Turbonegro) in many ways and accompanied their way since the early 90's.
Working for Viva TV channel he did a lot to spread the word about Turbonegro. For instance he directed the
fabulous 'Are You Ready For Some Darkness' video clip, did several features for VIVA TV and did most of the groundwork
for 'Turbonegro - The Movie'. Without him the whole Turbo-world would look different today.
Dear Rocco - rest in peace, we will never forget you.

Turbojugend London Vice President Passes Away:
We are very sorry to tell you that Richard Lancaster
(AKA Richie Crimewave), Vice President of Turbojugend London and salesman at
Shellshock died on Thursday morning, due to complications with his longstanding Asthma problems...
We are all in shock as it came completely out of the blue.
Shellshock will be organising a tribute page and setting up a
donation service, most likely to benefit an Asthma charity.
His parents have expressly requested that he be buried in his Turbojugend Jacket.

lover of great music. It seemed to me that he was one of those people who
really had a grasp on what our band is all about. I have fond memories of
drinking with him in Nottingham when we played there recently, and it was

The TJOC XXXmas party was a blast. Several TJLA members were in attendance
so we made our presence felt! Beer was consumed, plans were discussed,
alliances were formed. We will be working with TJOC on a big Jugend event
happening in mid-March. Keep your eyes peeled for the details. In the
meantime, I'm looking for ideas for another get together in January or
February. We don't want to get our chapter ripped for not having enough
events now do we? Midnight movie at the NuArt, bowling, more pizza, causing
general mayhem...send me your thoughts. We might even get democratic and
vote on it.

Captain Crispy has been working on the patches. He's thinking about the
logo at the bottom of the TJLA website with the leather hat, TJLA and
slogan. Think of how good that will look on your denim jacket. He's also
working on the shirts too. One color, multi color??? Once we get it all
sorted out, they'll be available on the website and at the chapter meetings.

Our favorite denim wearers are in the Kerrang! Christmas double issue (Dec.20/27).

Turbonegro goes mad with a fire extinguisher at a gig in Trondheim, Norway.
It seems the owners of the club they where playing at, had put a fire extinguisher on the stage,
just in case anything should go wrong with Hanks ass-rocket. What happended, was that Happy-Tom
emptied the extinguisher over the crowd. Equipment for over 100,000 kr (about $15,000 USD) got damaged.
In response to hearing the news that Turbonegro have to pay for the damages, Happy-Tom says "It's no big deal".
