:: Tonights the night Turbonegro will play Trondheim, Norway. And local chapter heros have decided to throw a party, Turbojugend style! This shindig will be held at a club called Blaest. Word is you best be there by 6 pm.

The insanity doesn't stop there! These cats have also worked out an after show party. The malay for this romp starts after the Turbo-show around 10 pm. :: LTD EDITION ETCHING!

:: The mysterious etching issue that many of you were wondering about has been solved. According to Turbojugend St. Pauli's El Presidente the "etching was left out due to severe technical problems." The stamper "has to be delivered dust-free and within 24 hours to the pressing plant and the risk in that short time we had was too big....

:: Also there is an extra small edition of un-numbered white-colored boxes which will be used as give-aways.

:: Plus the pressing plant seems to have forgotten to number at least 25 boxes from the 2000."

:: ABRACADABRA!

:: The following info is referring to the 05/27/03 show at Stavanger, Norway and was posted on the msg board:

Absolutely brilliant. The intro was class. A magician made himself dissappear and guess who popped up in his place? Hertis himself!!! They played brilliantly, seemingly free of any nerves, with Hank giving ther locals some cool verbals. Highlights for me were Sell Your Body, Denim Demon, Fuck The World and Pamparius. The band just seem to be getting better and better.

:: TURBO WILL ALWAYS BE PLATINUM!

:: It seems the way in which a 'gold record' is measured varies from country to country. For instance, in Norway if an album hits sales of 50,000 (which it has.) it qualifies as 'gold', according to the great Vidar Haga! But here in the United States that figure must reach 500,000 to achieve 'gold' status. Either way turbo will always be platinum in our hearts!

The Gold Story:

The RIAA has established the benchmark for a Gold Record as the sale of 500,000 units. Units are defined as sales through retail outlets, record clubs, rack jobbers, and all ancillary markets that legally distribute music. Sales of a million units is recognized by a Platinum Record and, if appropriate, a Multi-Platinum Record. In 1998 the RIAA initiated the Diamond Record awards which honor sales of 10 million copies of an album or single.

To be certified with a Gold Record the record label must request an independent sales audit for each title. An accounting firm employed by the RIAA then calculates the number of records or albums shipped for sale versus those distributed free for promotional purposes and then begins tracking sales and store returns for the life of the release. When a title's sales reach the requisite number of 500,000 sales, a Gold Record is awarded. More...

:: TURBONEGRO GOES GOLD!

:: The first step for world domination has already been achieved!!!. Our favorite denim demons have rocked their motherland like never before and their brand new album 'Scandinavian Leather' which was released on April 28th is already on top of the Norwegian album charts. Selling twice as many copies as #2 Madonna. The band has also recently received their first ever Norwegian gold record. So salute the lords of darkness...

Tonight they will be destroying London on their first gig in the UK. If you are one of the lucky ones who managed to get hold of a ticket before they sold out, congratulations!, you're in for an experience of a lifetime. If you didn't get a ticket, don't worry. They have added a second London date on May 12th and some tickets are still available. But probably not for long...In LA tickets on E-bay charged were 300 dollars, and scalpers outside the jam-packed sold-out venue were almost killed by fanatic fans wanting tickets.

And right now our neighbors across the Atlantic are getting their first smell of 'Scandinavian Leather' as it is being released in the United States and Canada by Epitaph today. And there's some talk about a possible North American September tour.

:: Hank releases his account of the incident in New York City.

:: JACKASS-DRAMA FOR TURBONEGRO:

The shooting of Turbonegro's video for their song 'Sell Your Body (To TheNight)' from the upcoming album 'Scandinavian Leather' almost ended in disaster for the band as well as the Jackass-gang.

The Jackass-gang have for several years been big fans of Turbonegro, frequently using Turbonegro's music in their famous tv stunts. Jeff Tremaine the director of 'Jackass - The Movie' was co-directing the video in LA with Spike Jonze. Many of the gang participated in the shoot, including front man Johnny Knoxville who said "Turbonegro is the best band in the world. That's just the way it is". Also appearing in the video was 'Wolfboy' Jesus 'Chuy' Aceves. 'Wolfboy's face is completely covered with hair - as well as his 22 other family members.

Problems arose when the grizzly bear appearing in the video went berserk in a tunnel in LA's urban jungle. The bear's trainer had warned up front that the bear was not in the best of shape. When the grizzly began to behave strangely in the tunnel, the message from the trainer was clear: Do not move! Hank von Helvete had the bear in a leash, and the arduous task to calm down the huge animal.

But it was only the Turbonegro-members that froze - the Jackass-gang ran to the emergency entrance. "We wondered if we didn't catch the drift when the Jackass-guys started to run and we stood still... At that point we had a bad vibe about the situation" admitted the band.

Yeah, it was a bit tense for a while. The Grizzly kills with one blow. But it was not a problem. Me and the bear had became good friends, and we managed to calm each other down" said Hank Von Helvete after the shoot. Turbonegro were in LA on the final leg of their US tour where they appeared as special guests of Queens Of The Stone Age. Their own headline shows sold out in minutes!

   Wednesday, April 9

:: Jeff Tremaine, of Jackass fame, directed the latest video for Sell Your Body... and not Spike Jonze as reported yesterday. Spike was operating cameras. He also did some of the photo direction with some guy named Whitey.

thanks to Rita the Free Agent for the info!

   Tuesday, April 8

:: I just talked to Rita, who is in charge of the casting for the video from last weekend. She confirmed that Spike Jonze was directing the video shoot for Sell Your Body.... The shoots happened over 3 days. The first shoot was before the early show at the Troubadour. I was there for that one. Only about 50 people were there. They let James, one of the guys in the audience, sing Self Destructo Bust with Hank during sound check, and they were chatting with everyone and having a good time. Someone was asking Hank about the New York bottle incident, and Hank was saying that whoever hit him with the bottle in New York ended up getting his ass kicked so bad that he lost all his teeth.

The actual shoot finally started about 5 pm, and all the extras had to be rounded up from a bar down the street and brought back to the club. The band ran through the song about a dozen times as the cameras were rolling. Then the sound men played a speeded up version through the amps, like almost double time, for some more shots. The band was cracking up and it seemed like they were having a hard time keeping up with the super speeded up version.

The next days shooting was in downtown LA, but the grizzly bear they were using in the shooting wouldn't cooperate and it took until almost midnight until the crew could start getting shots.

On Saturday, a group of girls selected from the previous shoots went into studio and shot the rest of the video. I have no idea when it will be coming out. I did talk to the band before the Troubadour shows, and they were saying that they will be coming back to America for many more dates in the Fall.

thanks to Linda M. Dominic for the info!

   Sunday, April 6

:: Its rumoured that director Spike Jonze was at the GAMH in SF filming the entire show. For whatever that's worth...

:: The new Turbonegro site is up and running! The site will include updated news about the band, tours, pictures and exciting competitions with exclusive prizes!

:: The filming for the latest video Sell Your Body (To The Night), takes place within the downtown slums of Los Angeles. This latest endeavor features one of America's most beloved house pets, the almighty Grizzly Bear.

A Grizzly Bear, camera crew, animal trainers, video staff, and about 30-40 extras all assembled under the Santa Fe bridge, in the very seedy side of Los Angeles. Around 5:00pm, the Denim Demons arrived at the shoot. As they began to put on their dark blue attire and make-up, Hank replies to a fellow turbojugend asking him what's up with the bear? and says "...I think I am (supposed) to rape the bear....hmmm...I've never done that before. How am I supposed to rape a bear?"

As the night continued, and after a "bear management" meeting, all turbojugend were instructed to keep all conversation to a whisper and refrain from making any loud noises. This worked to a point, until Bam-Bam became freaked out by all the shadows in the tunnel which held up production shooting....for about 7 hours. With over half of the extras drunk, fellow city dwellers now joining in on the bon fire that was started to keep the extras from freezing, and the rest huddled in a trailer eating McDonald's hamburgers and pizza supplied by the video director, many started losing faith in the "we'll be ready in 20 minutes" phrase that was repeated throughout the day and decided to call it a night.

I'm sure everything turned out......

Until then don't miss the current video for Fuck The World!

   Wednesday, April 2

Saturday, April 26 NRK (Norwegian TV) will air a documentary about Hank starting with the break up in '98 and on to the present come back.

thanks to Erik S Follestad for the info!

   Tuesday, April 1

It appears Hank is alright. According to a fan in attendance, Hank, more or less, made light of the incident by referencing it as an intro to Good Head.

   Monday, March 31

Last night in New York while playing at the Mercury Lounge someone threw a beer bottle at hank and hit him in the stomach during the first song. They warned the crowd not to do that. After the second song someone hit Hank in the head with a bottle and he started bleeding. He left the stage and a few minutes later they said he went to the hospital and turbonegro wouldn't be playing anymore.

Other accounts said: 'People started beating the shit out of him.. I didn't realize how serious Hanks injury was.. Even worse some idiot through a bottle at the drum set then a couple of assholes through beer all over the merch people and t shirts.. Good news was that the cops chased those guys down Ludlow street..."

"...Hank got hurt and instead of being worried about him. People were bitchin' about how the band wasn't playing."

Tonights show has been moved from the Mercury Lounge to Bowery Ballroom, all tickets will be honored to Sunday and Monday.

Stupid bald guy and his 2 ugly friends. GUNJI IS HUNTING YOU!!! It is a small town ya know.

Submitted story from last nights show in New York:

"I was at the NY show--right up against the stage directly in front of Hank, so I saw everything that happened up there. After waiting awhile, the crowd was pretty hyped-up, and there was a charged energy. But it seemed positive. This was gonna be a great fucking show. We gave in to the temptation to read the set-list which included so many great songs: Self Destructo, Get It On, Motherfucker, NAMBLA, Erection.....

Finally the show started. The intro to 'Age of Pamparius' started playing over the speakers; wanking in all its glory. Enter the band in full regalia, Hank donning his top hat and cane, denim cape and Alice Cooper make-up. Everyone went crazy--fists shot up and everyone was chanting together--fucking incredible. The band was in top-form, Hank's presence--he looked and sounded fucking incredible. Then they segueyed into Hello. (you know...it's good to be back...) Pol Pot was posturing madly on keys, Euro Boy was just getting warmed up. Happy Tom's bass was slapping my bitch-ass.

So what happened?--During the first (or 2nd?) song, a plastic cup of water hit Hank, and splashed across him. Whatever. Then quickly afterward a beer bottle hit him pretty hard, right on the collar bone. He looked a little taken aback--but not really. He said a bunch of cool shit which I can't remember as he leaned into the mic, I could see denim, sweat, leather and crotch as he hung on the mic, black leather gloves gripping.

Then they busted into Death Time. Maybe this is when the 1st bottle was thrown---I was too excited to remember exactly. But I DO know that after this 3rd song, Hank was real cool about it. He threw off his denim cape, and said sneeringly into the mic something about he got hit with a bottle, and anyone do it again is naughty or will be punished and don't throw any more---it was real funny, he was making a joke of it and in control---but barely as the words left his mouth, before you could even register how fuckin cool he was, a bottle flew straight at his head and smashed really hard, beer pouring all over his face and hair. How fuckin disgraceful and disrespectful to do that. This slammed the brakes on the Rock Machine. We all just stood there shocked, waiting to see what would happen---Hank's face was a mixture of being both pissed and astonished. I'll never forget his face and how he looked. He yelled who threw the fucking bottle! Happy Tom got on the mic and said it too, whoever threw the fucking bottle, someone must have seen something, c'mon.. Nobody spoke. The band kept asking. Then I see Hank standing, and see the blood pouring down his face and hair, down his chest. I don't think he knew he was bleeding yet. (But I never saw any bottle hit Hank's stomach, maybe i missed it??) There was a fucked up tension in the air. People started yelling, Hank went off stage--then after some stand-still, Euro Boy took off his guitar, and the band left the stage. We waited to see if they'd come back. A guy got on the mic and said, "Come on---we waited six fucking years for this. This is the best band in the world, don't ruin this! If I see anyone throw bottles at my favorite band, etc. etc."

So basically we were on edge seeing if Turbo would come back on. Our doomed fate was pretty much sealed when another bottle went flying at great force and hit the drum kit. What the fuck????? Our hearts sank. Finally the house lights came on, and we were told that Hank had to go to the hospital cos his head was split wide open.

Some mother fucking asshole ruined the show, seriously hurt Hank and stopped everything. Thanks a lot asshole, I hope you rot in hell. I read here that this asshole got beat up--I didn't see anything, but I hope he did. I really hope he did.

I was taking pictures, but I didn't take one of Hank with the blood. It was a very fucked up moment, and he didn't need to be made anymore a spectacle of. This shouldn't have happened at all, but the fucked thing is, it happened at the worst moment---right at the start of what should have been the best show of our lives! I took pics later of the bass and guitar leaning there, and of the blood on the floor....To document how sad it looked, with Turbo's instruments laying idle.

There was a lot of bitching---I can understand being pissed and disappointed. but comments I heard were, C'mon, it's just a little blood. Come on and play, you OWE it to us. This attitude sucks asshole, fucking selfish ingrates. Another guy was saying that if you think logically, it doesn't make sense for one asshole to stop the show. Well, YOU try to think logically in a moment like that! When I'm pissed off, I experience blind rage and can't think logically at all. It shouldn't have happened, and all these panty-wipes can do was bitch. I felt bad for another guy, who just said simply "Pleeease play. Pleeease play." as the band left the stage. After awhile, he told me that he'd been seeing shows in NY for 10 years and never saw anything like this. There was such a good vibe at the show, and when the bottles started flying, the mood changed to violence and aggression. That's not what this band is about! This band is as great as the original Ramones--possible greater. Well, they rock harder. If someone split Joey's head open at a show, do you think he would be "punk rock" and keep playing? The poor guy woulda been too stunned.

I tell ya--as MUCH as I wanted them to get back onstage and play, some fucked shit went on and the vibe was ruined. IF they even did get back up and play, the mood was fucked, and it wouldn't have rocked as much. We hope you are better Hank.

I saw them in Norfolk, VA the week before, so I was lucky. Their set blew my ass away---seeing Turbo live made me love them even more--the greatest band in the world."
